"Gerry's Girls"

Just got back from visiting Gerry and his girls. I was a kid in a candy store. He's really got a nice set-up in his basement. Had a hard time deciding what to have made for my trip to AML. Stuck mostly with basic black except for one that I had him put together. I hope perch like colors work there as well as everywhere else. I can't wait to see what they are going to look like.

I have a secret weapon. After all the insight from Cal Mike and Herbie, my niece picked out the pretty pink on pink "barbie" cowgirl. I will have to toss it for a while and see if the fat girls want to chomp on the "barbie" pattern ~ eh

   Steve-

Gerry's girls are all I used last year I was up in Sept to catch the big girls! Remember everyone bringing over the paint cans I think you even painted up a bait that night!

Used them this past weekend and scored a 52.5 and 48.5 on a short trip to MN.

They are really well put together and are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the big names.

Here is Gerry's email. contact him and tell him Cory sent you. Maybe even get a bunch for the Andy Meyers bait store!!

See you in September!

CP,

Whassup cochise? I go a bunch of Gerry's baits. You saw them in January when you were at my place with The Donald. You noticed any difference in interest/follows/takers from the thinner blades to the thicker blades?

No difference in follows but a difference in function.

We played quite a bit with them this past weekend in MN. The heavier blades are great if you are looking to get a little more depth in the retrieve. During the day high skys we wanted a little more depth to get down near/in the cabbage, the heavier bladed Gerry's girls helped the cause. Towards dusk or clouds when we thought the fish would be more up high we used the thinner blades.

but I really think its splitting hairs....they both work well.

Cory

I didn't see anything on the thicker bladed ones, but we had a few eaters on a "Triple N" () with the lighter blades. I'm pretty sure Donnie has had fish up on the thicker bladed ones though, so I'm not that worried about it. I thought maybe the thicker bladed ones had a different vibration that was not as attractive to the Muskies as the thinner ones?!?!?!?!

One bucktail that did well though was a 20 year old white bladed Mepps Giant Killer. I don't know what it is, but that thing just produces. The fish don't "kill" it, but rather give ya one of those "awe cr@p I cannot resist and I gotta eat this" strikes. Weird. Don't know if it's the color (which Mepps doesn't make anymore) or the particular thump of the blade. I wonder if Mepps is still using the same quality blades they used back in the late 80's. I sh!t you not, I bought that one about 20 years ago at Chuck's Bait & Tackle off Hway 51 in Tomahawk, WI.
